BOLZONI, AURAMO TIE THE KNOT
Casoni Di Podenzano, Italy Thursday, 16 Aug 2001
CASONI DI PODENZANO, Italy -- Forklift attachments manufacturers Bolzoni SpA, of Italy, and Auramo Oy, of Finland, have joined forces to form the second-largest attachments company in the world.
The group was formed on August 3 with Bolzoni's 100% purchase of Auramo, for an undisclosed price. Both were independent, financially strong companies, with non-competing product ranges. The merged company will have an annual turnover of $US72 million, and outlets on all continents.
Auramo chairman Karl-Peter Staack said the merger was made to meet customers' needs. Time was the most limiting factor affecting logistics chains everywhere and, by combining forces, Auramo and Bolzoni would offer a faster, more versatile service and a better support network on all continents.
The two companies will operate as normal, maintaining all staff and locations, but co-operate in production, retail, export and service.
The combined group has seven production plants, 13 branches and 550 employees. The group claims its product range is now the widest in the attachments market.
Bolzoni, founded in 1945, is a lift truck attachment manufacturer and has a profitable presence in the OEM business. Auramo, founded in 1947, is well-known for forest products handling equipment and lift masts, and is the sales leader in the European paper-handling equipment market. The Auramo lines comprise more than 300 pulp and paper-handling attachments, fork positioners, lift-truck masts and palletless-handling systems.
