Toyota Australia leads counterbalance market

Toyota has the largest market share for counterbalance forklifts in Australia, according to figures compiled by the Australian Industrial Truck Association (AITA).
AITA’s year-to-date (YTD) November 2004 figures show Toyota with 23.5 per cent of the total forklift market compared to 10.9 per cent for Nissan and 6.7 per cent for Hyster.
The company is poised to claim leadership in the Australian counterbalance forklift market for the eighteenth consecutive year (Forkliftaction.com News #155).
Toyota Industrial Equipment’s forklift sales increased 42.8 per cent for YTD November 2004, with more than 2485 machines sold YTD November compared to 1740 sold in YTD November 2003.
Toyota Industries Corporation Australia executive vice president Steve Harper said the company’s strong performance was based on its "continuing ability to provide industry-leading product and a strong dealer network".
Toyota has sold more than 39,000 forklifts in Australia since 1968.
The Australian market consumed 10,566 forklifts in the first 11 months of 2004.
