Noell RTGs for Chennai Port

SHANGHAI, China

Noell rubber-tyred gantry cranes at Chennai Port

Noell China has delivered four rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to Chennai Port, India.

The eight-wheel RTGs have a capacity of 40 tons (40.6 tonnes), the ability to lift one container over a five-container-high stack and a stacking capacity width of 6+1.

A Noell China spokesperson said Chennai Container Terminal PVT Ltd ordered 10 of the same RTGs in 2002 and was pleased with the "good quality and excellent operation system of the cranes".

Another four RTGs are scheduled to be shipped to the same port in May.

Chennai Port is the third busiest port in India based on figures from April 2004 to December 2004.
