Shanghai, China, October, 2009 – At an award ceremony in Shanghai, China in October, The China Industrial Truck Association (CITA) recognized the significant impact Cascade Corporation has played in the development of the forklift industry in China. Mr. Lu Daming, President of The China Lift Truck Association presented Mr. Bob Warren, President of Cascade Corporation, with a "Lifetime Contribution" Award. This was the first time since its foundation that CITA has bestowed top honors to those individuals who made such notable contributions to the development and improvement of the Chinese forklift industry.
In all, Thirteen "Lifetime Contribution" and Thirteen "Outstanding Contribution" awards were presented. Three of these were presented to Cascade Corporation individuals; the "Lifetime Contribution" to Mr. Bob Warren, President & CEO of Cascade Corporation and "Outstanding Contribution" awards to Mr. Chen Ping, General Manager, Cascade Xiamen and Mr. Yang Baoqin, General Manager, Cascade Heibei. Mr. Yang Baoqin stated that "Most noteworthy is the special distinction attributed to Cascade Corporation in receiving the only prize for "Attachment Supplier", demonstrating to the world forklift industry the recognized and successful status of Cascade attachments and forks in Chinese forklift industry."
Cascade Corporation has been at the forefront in developing business in China. Drawn to China in the early 1980’s, Cascade entered into a joint venture agreement with Xiamen Forklift Company in 1986. In 1995 Cascade bought out its joint venture partner, making Cascade Xiamen one of the earliest wholly owned foreign enterprises in China. At the same time, Cascade invested additional capital to expand Cascade Xiamen's production capacity and manufacturing capabilities. In 2002 Cascade Xiamen further expanded its production capacity and manufacturing capabilities when it moved into its completely new factory facility. This has allowed Cascade Xiamen to meet the demands of the rapidly growing Chinese domestic lift truck market and to become a major supplier to the much larger Asia Pacific region.
