Forklifts spread health message

BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia
Thursday, 5 Jun 2008
Peter Kedwell, managing director, Pershouse Produce.
Fresh produce supplier Pershouse Produce of Rocklea, Brisbane, has come up with an innovative way to boost awareness of breast and prostate cancers by using two specially coloured forklifts.

It hit on the idea of using two painted forklifts, one blue and one pink, to help raise money for cancer-related charities such as the Kim Walter’s Choices program and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia through the markets and the overall produce industry.

Launched at the Brisbane Market last Friday, the two Toyota forklifts are intended to create a stir amongst the 3,000 people who work and do business in the market.

"It’s important that they are noticed if we want to get the message out there. Early detection is crucial," says Pershouse Produce marketing manager Laura Koman.

"We’ve named the forklifts Patsy and Percy and we are seeking sponsorships for them to raise additional donations for charity."

Toyota Material Handling (QLD) delivered the Pershouse Produce Toyota forklifts and also organised the special livery for the machines.

“Percy and Patsy” – the two forklifts with a mission to lift awareness of cancer.
