Companies win awards

Norco Group's award
Birmingham Post recognises Bendi
REDDITCH, United Kingdom

Articulated forklift manufacturer Translift Bendi is the September winner of the Birmingham Post Business Award.

Translift Bendi now manufactures about 70 forklifts a month but plans to double this with a GBP500,000 (USD1.02 million) investment at its Pagets Lane factory (Forkliftaction.com News #322).

Managing director Simon Brown says:
"We are itching to get started because demand is so high.

"Once the new facility is fully operational, we are looking at increasing production to between 120 and 150 forklifts a month by the end of 2008. The expansion could also pave the way for around 20 new jobs, increasing the workforce to around 130 people."

Company chairman Fred Brown, who designed the Bendi forklift, was in Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire last week to receive the award.

A panel of judges for The Birmingham Post selects the winner out of the best business news stories published by the newspaper for that month.
