Rentcorp plans new Padstow showroom
SYDNEY, New South Wales, Australia Thursday, 17 May 2007
Forklift hire and sales company Rentcorp is planning a $6.7 million expansion of its Sydney head office after buying a 5,035sq m block of land at Padstow, in Sydney, this month.
Managing director Indiran Padayachee said the move would combine the company’s two Bankstown outlets and increase operating space by one-third.
"We will have a proper showroom right on the main road at Padstow with double street access,’’ Padayachee said.
"The building plans have been approved, barring slight adjustments between now and then. The design is based on a car dealership. It will be the most modern forklift showroom in Sydney."
Work on the $2.5 million, 3,500sq m facility is expected to begin in August. The showroom will have street access to Fairford Rd and Gow St.
"We have been looking for land in the Padstow area for about 18 months,’’ Padayachee said. "There are hardly any blocks available in Padstow, it is such an established industrial area.
"What we liked about this land was the size of the block and its location. We have a lot of customers at Alexandria and out west and this block is just 200m from the M-5 and about 5km from Bankstown airport."
Padayachee said Rentcorp’s main Sydney customers were the air and sea freight industries, third-party logistics and food and stationery suppliers.
The independent dealership’s core brands are Toyota, Hyster and Nichiyu.
The nine-year-old company also has outlets in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
