Watts Tyres to invest in Mexican distributor

Monday, 12 Feb 2007
Watts Tyres Plc has today announced the completion of a majority shareholding purchase of one of Mexico’s largest industrial tire dealers. UK Tires SA has represented Watts in Mexico for many years and is successfully developing the market place.  The new venture will trade as Watts Mexico.

The company is based out of Monterrey and currently has 6 depots delivering mobile fitting service to both fork truck dealers and end users in Mexico. As part of the deal, Edwardo Eggleton will become Managing Director and Rafael Mendiolea will be Commercial Director of Watts Mexico.

Jean-Paul Mindermann, Chief Executive for Watts Tyres Plc comments: "This is an excellent opportunity to invest in a strategically important market, which we see as having significant growth potential. As well improving our strong product brand awareness this move will enable us to develop our unique service proposition in Mexico."

Watts plan to expand the business by opening new depots and broadening the product range available, ensuring it continues to lead the marketplace by understanding customer requirements more effectively.
