The Glacier GX Series of forklift computers are PC-compatible devices specifically designed for harsh environments

Monday, 17 Jul 2006
The Glacier GX Series of forklift computers are PC-compatible devices specifically designed for harsh environments. The GX 1000 and GX 1200 are all-in-one computers with no fans or vents. Running Pentium class processors, these devices are equipped with hard drives, wireless Ethernet, an internal UPS, Bluetooth, and Windows operating system. Designed to be mounted on electric and propane vehicles, the Glacier units are used in warehousing, shop floor, and freight applications. Available color LCD displays sizes are 10.4, 12.1, and 15.0. All units come with rugged 5-wire resistive touchscreens!

Markets and Applications:

Common Glacier markets include freight, warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing / shop floor, and human resource kiosk. Units are traditionally mounted on forklifts, both sit down and upright, but are also commonly used at dock doors, factory floor machines, and on portable carts. Glacier customers deploy an array of data collection, ERP, and materials management software applications on the units. These include both 3rd party software packages as well as "home grown". Efficiency and accuracy gains are realized in cross dock, manufacturing data collection, as well as picking and putaway. All Glacier units integrate seamlessly with the corporate IT network and appear as another client on the network. Often users utilize the corporate intranet to update inventory and order status in real time.

What makes our product outstanding?

Glacier has used significant customer input in designing our latest device. Features separating our devices from those of the competition include numerous processors and thus numerous price points. Internal power conversion eliminating the need for external power converters. Locking I/O insuring peripherals such as bar code scanners etc. stay connected. An embedded XP operating system allowing for solid state drives and significant security against user abuse. 4 LED’s giving operators more timely information as to the unit’s operating status. SmartBattery Technology duplicating the functions of today’s top name laptops. This is unmatched in the world of forklift computing.

Future Plans:
Over the next 6-9 months, Glacier will offer enhancements and complimentary products to the current rugged computer line. These include a high bright display for outdoor readability, a sealed unit for hose down applications, and unit dedicated to Windows CE. The addition of these features will allow Glacier to expand into markets including food processing, pharmaceutical, public safety.
