Mobile harbour crane supplier Gottwald Port Technology has received its first order from Thailand from the Ngow Hock Group.
The Ngow Hock Group ordered two 100-tonne HMK 260 E cranes to operate at Thai Prosperity Terminal Co Ltd (TPT), near Bangkok, on the Chao Praya River. The two cranes start operating this month and will be the largest capacity cranes in Thailand.
TPT general manager Sitthidech Supunyapanich said an important reason TPT chose the mobile harbour cranes was Gottwald’s ability to respond to its needs.
"Our quay structure has a restricted loading capacity. Gottwald easily met this challenge. The cranes have been adapted to our terminal requirements," he said.
As a special feature for TPT, the two cranes are equipped with six aisles. Usually, the HMK 260 E features a five-axle chassis but they are designed to fit a sixth aisle if the quay has a restricted load-bearing capacity.
"I am especially pleased about our successful efforts to secure a foothold in the Thai market. These are important achievements, especially in view of the fact that the growth trend in the far-east region with the world’s busiest ports is likely to continue in years to come," said Klaus Roehrig, Gottwald’s Singapore regional manager.
So far this year, Gottwald has received seven mobile harbour crane orders from Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia and Thailand.
