The online video has probably been seen by most people in the forklift industry. It shows an operator picking up a coin with his forks and dropping it in a container.

The operator is Ronald Khoo, a trainer with more than 20 years of experience, who developed the coin trick about 10 years ago.

The video, posted on a Singaporean Facebook site, attracted 83,000 views in less than a month.
The trick is not just stunt, but rather part of Khoo's training education. "I hope that I can impart all these skills, the correct attitude and knowledge so I can make training and learning fun," Khoo told Channel NewsAsia.

He teaches students to exert some pressure on the coin using the fork in order to flip the coin onto it. Then, students will have to control the speed of the lever in order to move the coin to the edge of the fork, before it can be deposited into the container.

The manoeuvre is part of the curriculum in the forklift operations course at the NTUC LearningHub.

Khoo's passion for forklift training stems from a poor experience when learning to drive which required him to take 10 driving tests before getting his licence. From then on, he wanted to be a teacher, so others would not have to endure the same agony.

"I am grateful to everyone who supported my training. It makes a difference in my life," Khoo is quoted as saying. "When my students go out there, they can earn a living, so I feel even better."
