Riwal will acquire over 3,000 aerial work platforms and telehandlers of which 10 are JLG 1850SJ boom lifts. |
Aerial work platform and telehandler rental specialist Riwal will invest EUR80 million (USD87 million) in its rental fleet this year. This is double the company's 2014 capital expenditure budget.
Riwal says about 60% of the investment will be to renew its rental fleet with the remainder for fleet expansion, supporting its global growth strategy.
Over 3,000 new aerial work platforms and telehandlers will be purchased, including JLG, Genie and Holland Lift, among other brands.
New models that will be added to the fleet include 10 units of the 58 m (190 ft.) working height JLG 1850SJ ultra boom, hybrid machines like the JLG H340AJ and Holland Lift HL-275 H25, and the new Genie Z33/18 and Z62/40 boom lifts.
Riwal CEO Norty Turner says the rental specialist aims to provide its customers with "the most advanced solutions available".
"The capital expenditure supports our international growth plans and enables us to deliver the best customer experience and the highest levels of safety."
Separately, Riwal is supplying JLG aerial work platforms to HWS, a Dutch aerial work platform rental company. Riwal is the JLG distributor for The Netherlands.
The deal consists of a wide range of JLG boom lifts including the JLG 460SJs and JLG 660SJs as well as JLG 1230ES vertical mast lifts. HWS has also purchased extended platform JLG 400S boom lifts, which Riwal has designed and modified for façade applications and that have a platform width of 4 m (13 ft.).
HWS owner Toby van de Kooij says: "Despite the offer of different brands, we went with the quality and consistency the JLG brand offers. Combined with Riwal's technical expertise, we were able to purchase machines that meet all of our specific needs."
Arjen Snijder, Riwal's international sales manager, adds: "Riwal and HWS have been engaged in a long and committed relationship which has been reconfirmed through this deal. We are pleased to deliver so many quality units to an aerial work platform rental company of the size of HWS."
The Riwal Holding Group, established in 1968 and headquartered in The Netherlands, is an international rental specialist of aerial work platforms, telehandlers and power generators. Riwal employs over 1,200 people and has operations in 18 countries on four continents.
