The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA), Queensland Division, will be holding their tenth consecutive SCL Summit at the 2012 Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference on Thursday the 23rd of August.
The SCL Summit is a unique event established by the
SCLAA for Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers and Senior Management and is themed ‘The 5 Challenges to Supply Chain management’. Company Directors, CEO’s, CIO’s, Supply Chain Executives, other Senior Managers, government and academic leaders and such will take away creative ideas to drive their organisations to meet the challenges of a rapidly and constantly changing world.
The 5 Challenges to Supply Chain Management are:
1. Customer Focus - How can we deal effectively with the changing attitudes and power of customers and consumers? Is it possible to effectively manage demand in an on-going volatile environment?
2. Supply Chain Relationships - Partnering and collaboration are not appropriate for every business or every transaction, but how can we develop new forms of collaboration (e.g.Collabotition) to unlock hidden value?
3. Technologies - Information and communication are fundamental enablers of optimised Supply Chains. How can we harness the new and emerging technologies (e.g. social media, advanced automation, smart phones and tablets, etc) for personal and business gain?
4. Supply Chain Risk Management - Trade-offs between achieving optimal supply chain efficiencies and management of supply chain. Risk has created a conundrum of sorts. Businesses have witnessed many SC malfunctions (with substantial consequences) (IBM Global Services). What are the key Supply Chain risks and how can we maintain cost effective management of them?
5. People - Many organisations report a dearth of appropriately trained or educated people with capability to implement, manage and sustain supply chains. What can we do to meet the demand for the most important ingredient (people) in Supply Chains?
The 2012 SCL Summit will seek to discover and explore practical ways to create significant additional value from Supply Chains in all types of organisations. An experienced and exuberant panel will introduce real issues for assessment and debate. Panelists will include Associate Professor Hermione Parsons, Director, Institute of Supply Chain and Logistics, Victoria University, Mr Hans Anneveldt, Vice President – Intermodal Strategy and Business Development and Mr Scott Reid, Regional Manager, CISCO Systems.
