A global polymer processing company has turned to forklift dealer Yale CZ Ltd to manage its complete materials handling operation requirements in the Czech Republic.
Rehau, which boasts an extensive European distribution network that supports 25 factories, three of which are based in the Czech Republic, tasked Yale CZ to provide a solution for its largest facility in Čestlice.
The 9,000 sqm (96,875 sqft.) site includes indoor and outdoor storage areas with a wide variety of products, ranging from small, expensive components to large window profiles up to 6.5 m (21 ft.) in length and large plastic tubes in various lengths and dimensions.
Yale CZ, asked to pay attention to the diversity of materials that needed transporting at the site, offered a fleet of four, 5 T Yale Veracitor VX forklifts, fitted with double pallet-handling attachments to allow multiple pallets to be moved simultaneously.
Vladimir Marek, Rehau’s logistics manager, explains that the transportation of products between the company’s three Czech facilities and the logistics requirements for each site "can be quite complex". "Many of the components and products we produce are very valuable so we needed to be sure we had chosen the very best possible materials handling solution.
"The Yale fleet has allowed us to make the process of loading and unloading of large pallets much more efficient and we have reduced the damage during transportation to a minimum."
Ondrej Vondruška from Yale CZ Ltd says the biggest challenge in terms of specifying a suitable materials handling fleet was the size and dimensions of some of the larger loads.
"We took into account the unusual pallet configurations and specified telescopic fork attachments for several of the VX forklifts as well as extended fork tubes," he says.
The value of the contract is confidential.
