Workshop to benefit from donated forklift

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
Thursday, 25 Sep 2008
Jungheinrich delivers a forklift to MK SNAP
A UK charity that provides work opportunities for people with disabilities will be able to take on more work in the future after Jungheinrich donated a forklift.

Jungheinrich’s Stephen Baines, divisional sales manager, and Tracie Ward, local sales manager, recently delivered the three-wheel counterbalance forklift to MK SNAP.

MK SNAP provides real work opportunities to people with disabilities. Its program incorporates life and communication skills, and helps clients develop social relationships and problem-solving abilities. Companies outsource product assembly and bulk mail projects to the workshop and MK SNAP’s clients do the work. The organisation also has its own woodwork section and makes custom-made furniture.

MK SNAP’s work has been restricted because it did not have the facilities or equipment to take large deliveries. Sally Fennemore, the organisation’s fundraising co-ordinator, says the forklift will make a big difference.

"Previously, we could only accept large deliveries by vehicles with a tail lift. Having a forklift will open up more opportunities and gives us more independence and flexibility."

Baines says Jungheinrich is delighted to support a worthwhile organisation. "We hope, in some small way, we have contributed to the excellent work MK SNAP does in the community."

Jungheinrich’s donation also includes servicing of the equipment and driver training.
