A new training resource focuses on safety and risk management issues by exploring the potential hazards and risks for forklift drivers in the workplace.
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Forklift Risks and Hazards is made up of a 22-minute DVD and an accompanying CD which includes trainers’ notes on how to use this resource and learners’ worksheets which can be customised for different organisations.
The DVD covers:

• checking out the site and the route you will be taking
• pre-operational safety checks
• load and load handling
• driving
• tipping over
• shutdown
The resource can be used
• as training support material for the unit of competency TLID1007 "Operate a forklift",
• for refresher training,
• for induction and orientation,
• as a workplace training tool, or
• as support material for people working towards the National Licence for High Risk Work - Forklifts.
