JLG lands military service contract

McCONNELLSBURG, PA, United States
Thursday, 9 Sep 2004
A USD21 million contract to recondition about 700 rough-terrain forklifts for the US Army has been won by JLG Industries.

Under the three year contract, announced last week, the All-Terrain Lifter Army System (ATLAS) vehicles and predecessor models will be reconditioned to current model standards. They have all seen recent service in southwest Asia.

JLG military programs director David Peacock said the contract would be fulfilled at JLG's military rebuild facility in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania.

"Winning this contract broadens our portfolio in an important and growing customer segment," he said. "Supporting our customers with after-market service and managing the lifecycle of our products are key components of our plan to grow revenues from non-new machine sales."

JLG announced earlier this year that it would compete for the contract (Forkliftaction.com News #156).
