Toyota eyes Indian market
NEW DELHI, India

Toyota Industries Corp (TICO) aims to sell its forklifts throughout India by 2009, according to the Nikkei Report.

The news service said TICO planned to sell 1,000 fuel-efficient forklifts a year in 2010. Higher oil prices were expected to boost Indian demand for fuel-efficient forklifts.

Toyota forklifts were 50 per cent more expensive than Indian forklifts, which held 80 per cent of the forklift market, the report said.

Hytsu starts electric forklift production
PUDONG, China

Hytsu has established an electric forklift assembly line at its new Pudong plant in Shanghai, China (Forkliftaction.com News #294).

The factory started producing the Hytsu S100 series electric forklifts last month. The new line can produce 2,000 electric forklifts a year.

Hytsu said in a statement that it aimed to sell CNY300 million (USD38.73 million) of electric forklifts a year before 2010.

Balkancar Dunav sold
SOFIA, Bulgaria

Bulgarian company Bourgas Shipyards has signed a LEV4 million (USD2.7 million) deal with the Bulgarian Privatisation Agency for 70 per cent of forklift maker Balkancar Dunav, Dnevnik Daily reported (Forkliftaction.com News #281).

Bourgas Shipyards is required under the deal to cover Balkancar Dunav's debts within six months of acquiring the company and to retain its core business.
