Konecranes has started new statutory negotiations for possible temporary and permanent layoffs in Konecranes Service Corporation, Finland.
The company says the measure was taken to combat continuing weak demand for maintenance services in the Finnish market. It is estimated that up to 15 employees could lose their jobs.
Previous Konecranes Service Corporation statutory negotiations ended on 5 June 2009, resulting in 10 employees losing their jobs and other temporary layoffs.
Konecranes Service Corporation offers service solutions for cranes, port equipment and machine tools. It currently has about 620 employees.
Konecranes had estimated a reduction of about 1,600 employees for the group in 2009. Most recently, 21 employees were laid off at Hyvinkää-based Konecranes Plc and Konecranes Finance Corp in the last quarter of 2009
