An exciting new XC Series of cushion tire industrial trucks has been introduced by Taylor Machine Works, Inc. of Louisville, Mississippi. These powerful cushion tire trucks are manufactured for productivity; they provide significant lift capacities in a remarkably compact space and are specifically designed for applications with limited maneuvering space plus significant heavy lift requirements.

The six XC models provide lifting capacities of 18,000 to 35,000 pounds at 24‐inch load centers on 56‐ inch wide all‐welded chassis. The XC chassis are built on three wheel bases: 80‐inch for the 18,000, 20,000, and 22,000 pound capacities; 88 inches for the 25,000 and 30,000 pound capacities; and 98‐inch for the 35,000 pound capacity truck. With the exception of the XC‐350L, width over tires is 56.5 inches; over tire width for the XC‐350L is 60.5 inches. The cast counterweight features single‐bolt mounting for ease of service.

Standard engine for the XC series is a GM 5.7 liter, 125 Hp, V‐8 LPG model. It is a propane gas injected, low emission engine with an oxy catalytic converter. (A Cummins 4.5 110Hp, Tier III turbocharged, charged air cooled diesel engine is available as an option.) The LPG engine muffler is mounted to the engine with exhaust directed through the rear of the truck. Standard is a CANbus engine diagnostic unit providing information to the dash‐mounted display panel.

The 3‐speed, fully reversing, powershift transmission includes inching and electric roll shift. Automatic Powershift Control is standard. The drive axle has wet disc brakes. The wet disc service brakes are internally force‐cooled, hydraulically actuated. The brake oil and hydraulic oil are cooled in a cooler separate from the transmission cooler. The parking brake is mounted to the transmission and is operated by a dash‐mounted button control.

The planetary drive axle is bolt‐mounted to the chassis frame. The single‐cylinder steer axle features legendary Taylor quality and ruggedness. The hydraulic system features transmission driven gear‐type pumps, two‐section control valve, and chrome‐plated cylinder rods with self‐adjusting packing. An accumulator in the lift circuit, dual wire‐mesh strainers, and a replaceable 10‐micron return‐line filter element in the hydraulic tank are also included.

The 12‐volt electrical system includes a 105 AMP generator (130 AMP for the optional diesel engine). Circuit breakers are utilized rather than fuses, and the high visibility T‐style dash includes heavy duty, color coded wiring. Standard on the XC are: work lights, tail lights, turn signal indicators, two key actuated amber strobe lights, electric horn and forward and reverse alarms, operator fan, two panoramic view mirrors, fire extinguisher, and black, non marking poly tires.

The cooling system incorporates three coolers for the standard LPG engine: transmission cooler, engine coolant cooler, and separate hydraulic/brake oil cooler. (For trucks with the optional diesel engine, a charged‐air cooler is added.)

The operator station reflects the quality ergonomic design for which Taylor is known. The driver's guard includes a bronze‐tinted, poly‐carbonate Skyview window. The multi adjustable vinyl air suspension seat provides comfort and includes 16° left/ 24° right rotation. The performance‐proven electric joy‐stick has multiple adjustments for operator comfort. It is mounted to the seat's right arm-rest and controls all hydraulic functions. Full hydrostatic on‐demand steering is standard. The steering wheel tilts, and the tilt‐down instrument panel provides ready access to instruments and electrical wiring. Two wide integral nonslip steps assure easy access to the operator station.

The slope design of the counterweight, the clean lines of the T‐shaped dash, and through‐the‐mast view provide outstanding visibility for the operator.

The exceptional quality of the design and manufacture of the XC Series lift trucks from Taylor Machine Works is matched by the outstanding parts and service support extended by Sudden Service, Inc., the Taylor after‐market parts and service support organization, and Taylor dealers located throughout North America and around the world.
