After 7 freezing winters as a field servce engineer in the uk I have decided to pack up tools and head down under.  I have secured a job as a "field tech" in Melbourne working on the same trucks as i am here.
Anybody got any info on what to expect of life as a service tech down under or has anybody out there made the same move?? All advice welcome.  Thanks

What trucks do you work on?

Cheers mate.  About 80% of my work is on Jungheinrich battery trucks,  the rest between diesels and Lpg. Do you work in Melbourne?

You will probably find a lot more knocked about and older trucks as we tend to hang on to them for too long. Plus customers who will not spend money on them. Given that you posted this in November you have probably found this already. Welcome to Oz anyway, hope you find it to your liking. Do you happen to have any mates in the forklift game in the UK interested in a position in Perth?

Hi Pozza,
I'm currently working in Nigeria but looking to move back to the UK next month and then hopefully onto oz. Working on port equipment at the minute, Konecrane and Kalmar reachstackers and ECB's but have worked on forklift, telehandlers ect.
stuartcagataoldotcom is my email if you want to send me more details or want to look at my CV.
Cheers,
Stuart
