This enquiry was received from Minnesota....I am currently trying to locate fork lift/lift truck standards from a number of countries around the world. I've found that most of the European standards are EN-1726-1, Australian standard is AS-2359, and the United States is ASME B56. Would you be able to help me in identifying other equivalent standards used by other countries, or recommend a source where I might locate this information. I greatly appreciate any help on this project.

European Standards are EN- 1726-1 and 1726-2. The EN 1726 - 1 is in the way to be review in Brussels.

The lift truck training in Suisse is porposeful by "arrêt U 2003 from TFA Tribunal Federal des Assurances - 24 juny 1994 . In my opinion the Association Suisse de Logistique ASL knows very well more about : www.suva.ch/waswo

In Spain , we follow the european directive traslate by the "Real Decreto 1215 /97" .

Michigan (USA) runs it own state OSHA program (MIOSHA) and promulgates regulatory standards unique to Michigan. Most federal OSHA requirements have been modified by MIOSHA.

The following MIOSHA regulatory standards impact forklifts:

General Industry Safety Standard, Part 21, Powered Industrial Trucks
General Industry Safety Standard, Part 52, Sawmills, Rule 5273 (adds some requirements for log and material handling equipment).
General Industry Safety Standard, Part 63, Pulp, Paper and Paperboard Mills, Rule 6331 (adds some special requirements for material handling).
Construction Safety Standard, Part 13, Mobile Equipment
Construction Safety Standard, Part 12, Scaffolds and Scaffold Platforms, Rules 1243 -1246 (addresses work platforms used with rough terrain forklifts).

Thanks to the Industrial Truck Standards Development Foundation and their gratis policy! This free use policy will greatly increase safety in the powered industrial truck arena as these standards are now readily available to safety personnel and safety trainers.
