Anyone know of a good diesel exhaust purifier?

Heard of this purifier known as the Vortex?

What exactly do you want to purify?

Particle emissions i.e. soot?
or
Harmful gasses emissions?

Generally speaking both are tackled using different types of systems.

I'd like to filter out both harmful gases and particulate matters.

The figures below are taken from a catalytic converter for a 3.3 litre diesel engine, and generally differ between engine sizes.
Carbon Monoxide (CO): Minimum 90% purification rate.
Hydrocarbon (HC): Minimum 70% purification rate.
Black exhaust smoke can be reduced up to 50%.  Dust catching capability is 95% for particles larger than 0.5mm.

You will see that NOX is not detailed as one of the reductions which is due to the catalytic converter used on the diesel engine in this instance uses an Oxidation type catalyst.

To get the best possible reductions electronic diesel control would be needed but this increases the costs significantly and still woul produce some soot.

If soot is the biggest problem then I would recommend a dedicated partculate filter such as those from HUSS Umwelttechnik, that we as as a manufacturer offer as a custom option from factory.

Cost is a big factor and a factory fit catalytic muffler is normally by far the cheapest option.

If emissions is really your thing then it has to be an AC powered electric unit, which offers minimal emissions along with performance to match (or surpass) the internal combustion machines.
