Hi All,

I'm in the process of buying a Hangcha 5 ton diesel forklift Brand New, it has a Nissan Engine and a Chinese made Transmission, my question is;

Any pros and cons of this brand?

The machine will get medium to heavy usage,

Any advice, input will be great!

Thanks
Ryan

My advise would be dont buy one and look elsewhere, they are not cut out for any more than a light application.

Not familar with the brand - but I would check out what type of local support is available.  Meaning parts support for this machine.  Don't take the sales persons word for it - get a list of recommended spare parts w/part numbers beyond oil & filters and see how many the dealer has on their shelf.  Parts (even warranty service parts) can take time to get from the manufacturer - 30 to 90 days (can you afford to have the truck down that long?).

Also find out how much training the dealer's service technican's have received.  Have them show you parts manuals, service manuals (electronic format or hard copy)etc.

Price becomes a non-issue if you can't keep your machine up & running.

Remember "buyer beware" or "Cavot Emptor" (spelling may not be correct but it means the same.

HC is a poor brand with not much sales in europe or usa. they say it is nissan engine but i am not sure. also they can produce the forklift with TCM or Chinese engine as well as transmission. Test it on 5 tons before you buy it and i recomend you to buy a better brand which you can use atleast 5 years like linde, komatsu, hyster.

gvnlp;

Have you ever used the HC brand?
I am certain that if the forklift is rated at 5 tons, it will lift 5 tons, at a high position, the capacity may reduce?
Linde is not sold here, no dealer, Komatsu is expensive and Hyster is expensive.
I am willing to use the unit, I am satisfied that it will do my job, just wanted to see if anyone had any bad experience.
In the UK, these units are sold as Samuk HC. In France, Capm Europe have sold a couple hundred. I see that there is also a dealer in Switzerland.
Are you negative about HC because its made in China?
I need a proper reason for buying or not buying this machine,

Thanks for your time,

Ryan

We have had HC machines badged as Samuk and I know of a lot of people that have also had them and are of the same opinion as me, that they would not buy another one, they are a poorley built machine using poor quility components. Only buy one if it is half the price of the Hyster or Komatsu and then you can buy another one also, you will need it as a spare!!. All you need to do is look at what they are worth second hand, dealers that have them cant give them away!

TCM engine? I was under the impression TCM primarily uses Nissan and Isuzu engines (previous models included the Toyota engines).  Nissan engines are also used in many other manufacturer's lift trucks(including Komatsu)... so they are reputable.  I had an '05 rental truck with over 15,000 hours on it (lol don't ask)  and we never had to tear it down... I thought only the 4Y could lay claim to that, until we saw it first hand with the Nissan.

Rant aside, Nissan makes a decent engine.

We have sold a few HC trucks in the UK. They are fitted with Nissan Engines for gas and Izuzu diesel. The transmissions are TCM engineering made under licence in China. We have only had one serious problem and that was with transmission. It had to be on a truck we sent to Africa. Took 2 years to get truck sorted. We replace it with anArtisanWe have sold other Chinese trucks but now sell Tailift un der the name Artison made in Tiawan. Much better quality. Their 5 ton truck is exellent. We have some 7 tonne trucks and 3 tonne trucks working in a quarry on a very hard site,

Much better finish and quality. Built for heavy duty work. We have met users who have had trucks several years without trouble and still going strong. We have only been selling them for 3 years but older users have re-orded from us. We distribute to agents

Hey Doc,

FYI, Brasstracks already corrected that in his 11.13.09 thread.
