Is it possible to reprogram or change a 'master password' on an NOR cat without the Dcat software? I have a tradein NOR 30 that is scrap metal unless I can change the master password to be able to run learn on the joystick, and someone has changed the master password from any that I know of. any ideas would be more than welcome.

As with raymond this is a common problem that really only has one solution.
Bite the bullet and pay the cat dealer to come in with a laptop and have them change it to whatever you want. I've had to do this with raymond and typically costs me about an hour.

The bitterness of a poor repair remains long after the sweetness of low price is gone.

at this stage, I would say it's less a problem of 'bitting the bullet' than it is of getting the different dealer principals to stop trying to backhandedly hurt each other. the stories of trying to get service from each other in this area are true horror stories.
I would/will be better off to transport the truck to a customer's location, and do the billing through a third party (so the Caterpillar dealers management has no idea who is really getting the truck repaired), than to attempt to get the service tech to come to my location. it's such a mystery how come every time it requires 3 or 4 trips for 3 or 4 different service techs (some of who just 'seem to get lost' on their way) to get something as simple as a reprograming, and how come 2 techs in a row come out, but both don't have the laptop that was requested, and yet we are charged for their time as a service call, but those are some of the problems we work around in these instances.

I know this might be a bit after the fact but email me (off list) and I'll send you a copy of the dcat software.  You'll need to buy a cable part #610-809/001 from your Raymond or Cat dealer.  All you need is a laptop that runs DOS, mine cost me $50.

this thread is not so old that the truck in question at the start of this thread has moved.

i have tried the 2 backdoor codes I received from cat, along with several others that have worked for me in the past, no go. I currently have 3 trucks with the same code "40" got one with a bad q1, but the other 2 who knows, it is really a pain testing by hand. I explained all this to my boss, but  he said "you can do it, I have FAITH in you"  !

anyway any help is appreciated

Thank you Danny, for sharing the "backdoors" you used, they made all the difference in the world. I am glad I did not have to resort to any 'further reaches' to get this achor turned back into a forklift. I did not have a boat big enough to justify such a large anchor.
