Thinking of adding one of these to my rental fleet for a customer with  15 hrs of usage a week.

Any input would be appreciated.

15 hours per week or about 2 hours per day usage is just fine for a reach truck, i think you will not need a spare battery but you should train your operator on the proper handling of the battery because it is the heart and soul of the electric forklift. Another area to look into is the pavement. Reach trucks has a smaller wheel compared to the rider type therefore uneven pavement would reduce the service life of your reach truck. You did not mention whether it will be use in a racking system, however you have to consider the right stacking angle of your forklift when operating on a racking system, the collapse height and the lifting height at the highest level because there is danger that the backrest will hit the roof if there is any. Lastly please considere buying the TOYOTA brand.

I posted the Model wrong, it's a 31I.

Thanks for your input, I have the spec's I need,  This is for my rental fleet.  I was hoping to get some input on reliabilty and parts cost since this is an older model.

Must say, I've never ran across or heard of  a Toyota reach truck before.  When did they start selling them in the USA?

They have been there very long, the company name is TOYOTA MATERIAL HANDLING, U.S.A., INC. address is 1 park plaza, suite 1000 Irvin, CA 92614, U.S.A. tel number 1-949223-7720 email ad is http://www.toyotaforklift.com/request.html if its an old model, the unit you mentioned may be operating well but the availability of spare parts and cost i think is very high

I've worked on lots of Toyotas, but not stand-up reach trucks.  I'll keep my eye out for them.  Personally, In the IC line, I think Toyota makes one of the nicest trucks out there.

When I first started in this business, the Cat dealer I worked for sold Toyota when it couldn't sell the Cat because of cost.

For electric we sold Prime Mover, we were told the Toyota narrow aisle equipment didn't match up with American narrow aisle for some reason that I can't recall now.

Toyota now has stand up reach trucks. The current model is the 7FBR. You should try to take a look at it and there' a lot of features in it. It has a better traction and brake control because it has now the front assisted brake system (trailwheel) and it is now AC/AC motor system both for the drive and the hydraulic system. It also has a low height floor, smallm diameter steering wheel and an easy down system on the mast. I don't think that it aill not match with the american narrow aisle. There are a lot of specs to look up.......

.........Please try! thanks

to stay on subject and answer, yes that truck would perform well, with that little amount of usage, that is a good truck.make it clear to the customer, how to roll out the battery, and check the water. with that usage, water should be checked ever 2 weeks.  equlize the battery once a month.mike

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for, a solid lift that's easy to service.  They have a batterymaster system on their other trucks,  I'll probably put one on it so I don't have to worry about them running it dry.

In the ideal situation a newer lift would be nice, but a 321" reach truck for a customer who rents 3 mos. in the summer, doesn't rate a newer truck that won't pay back on the investment.  Hopefully it will turn into a rent to own or outright sale,  but the customer isn't going to lay out that kind of cash for a 3-4 year old lift.

Easy to service with decent parts pricing and availability....sounds Like you need a Crown reach, very dependable and  cheap to run. Don't let the toyota's fool you their a prime mover in disguise.
