I purchased a 2000 Caterpillar TH83 with some boom parts missing. tilt cylinder, hydraulic lines, chain and internal hoses. Since this is a fairly new machine I thought I would not have any problems getting these parts. I sold this machine "as is" to another wholesaler but now he is telling me that most of these parts are no longer available in the Caterpillar system. Is this Possible.??? I know Cat has parts for machines 30 years old. I need help!!! Does anyone knows where I can find these parts?? My customer claims that a cat dealer told him the parts are discontinued.

nor would it stop me from fixing the parts listed. I/you don't need Cat to provide you with hydraulic lines, chain and internal hoses. these are "generic" and don't have any requirement for the Caterpillar "C" to be on the parts, just that the parts are of equal safety and capabilities and standards. if I do not have any of the tilt cylinder, that might be a search for item, but repairing the components, with or with out the local Caterpillar dealer's assistance, should be almost trivial to a real forklift service company.
I do know (and learned it here on ForkliftAction dot com) that Caterpillar has contracted to JLG for the manufacture of new telehandlers.
I would fully expect any Caterpillar dealer to be able to source the parts for a 2000 model year unit still, but they may have moved the parts department that covers that truck from the industrial or forklift division (mainly MCFA products, which Telehandlers are not) to the dirt or construction equipment side of the dealership. my suggestion is, don't just ask the Cat lift truck parts counter help, also ask the Caterpillar construction parts person...
