When starting, say after a charge, you get the usual "left foot" display, and after cycling his left foot, then the display will say "center handle". This is NOT the usual problem you are thinking of right now. (This is happening after replacing a defective Access 3 module.) The operator can then get the forklift going by pressing a function button...say the tilt or side shift. The display and operation then will return to normal and off he goes until the next time he shuts the key off, and has to repeat the sequence. I am thinking maybe this Access 3 rebuilt unit, is programmed with a peculiar start up procedure to prevent unauthorized use in the forklift it originally came from ( say...in a Home Depot, for example ). Can I overcome this peculiarity?

Were all pots in handle  calibrated after access 3 install? That would be the first thing to do if not already done.

Thanks Checo,
Yes the calibration was set up properly, and I have since found, and corrected the problem, now that it finally became a little more frequent. All of you have probably seen the forward/reverse optical switches get dirty and cause the "center handle" display. That is all it was. It finally threw a couple of codes ( 341,343) that helped. What threw me off the track was the fact that when the driver touched any of the auxiliary function buttons, it would correct itself and start up. The driver touching the multifunction handle, or one of the switches, was electrically "jarring" ( for lack of a better term) the optical switches, and causing them to work correctly, but only temporarily. A good cleaning with compressed air did the trick. but in the past I have sometimes had to remove the switches and clean them with electronic spray cleaner.
