One of my clients wants me to put together a general training course on warehousing

Is there anywhere I can get such details.

Obviously I will have a lot of information anyway but if there was a standard course available I would  be able to make sure all relevant issues are covered.

the computer programme is already covered.

If I am reading this correctly, they are wanting you to set up a training program for overall warehouse safety, or how to effectively set up a warehouse?

This sounds like "teach me computers" or "teach me building".
I think the next question should be "how much time do we have?"

Go to MHEDA's website, that will help with the nuts and bolts and equipment
You also need to select a WMS system
Then its shipping, either truck load or UPS/Fedex
What are they asking for? Kind of a general request

Thanks for the response guys.

and JonG I will look up that site,

I think I may not have expressed myself properly ( So much for my other comments on Transfer of knowledge !!!)

This is for  New warehouse operatives, The company  wants  the people to have a basic knowledge of what is involved in working in a warehouse environment.

Basically these guys will be doing the following

Receiving,
Storing
Retrieving
Dispatching  of goods from warehouses/stores/distribution centres.

I consider the Skills to be taught should include

Checking goods in and out,
Loading and unloading delivery vehicles,
Picking and packing,
Checking stock levels
Use of computerized stock control systems.
General Safety, H&S law
Fire Safety,
Obligatory Safety Signs.
Manual Handling requirements
Quality Customer Service. Team working
Warehouse workers will also need to operate forklift trucks and/or other equipment.

There is a course currently available but I don't think it actually relevant to what the guys end up doing and really I was hoping that somewhere there is a standard that could be used to up the quality of what I will be delivering,

One month would be allowed for training 16/20 trainees.

Any help appreciated.
