I can't send the schematic because it is copyrighted.  However, tell me what the problem is and i can probably tell you how to fix it.

Thanks, fixed it yesterday.  Replaced the K1 relay on the distribution board.

Copyrighted...?

sheesh, first RIAA, then MPAA and now Crown.

Why can't we all just get along?
Is it ok if I use the word 'crown'?

Just buggin...

I think they all the manufacturers copyright their manuals and schmatics.

I find this to be a strange attitude.
Does GE copyright their part of the drawing? Zapi? Curtis?

If you're afraid that the customer might fix it himself, then why offer advice at all?

I share in the hope that when I'm in a bind, someone will return the favour.

I doubt I'll get a 'cease and desist' from nmhg for passing out a schematic... especially on a 10 year old machine

Mike,
You are throwing around a few abreviations in your posts above.  Please explain what all the abreviaiations are.

I will help my fellow tech.  I'm not stupid enough to jeapodize my job by passing out schmetics on the internet.  If you want to send this tech a schmetic, go ahead.  Post for everybody at Forklift Action to see and see what happens.

The manufacturers, or music artists, or motion picture producers put an investment in their work.   They don't just spend millions to produce a piece of music, or a movie, or engineer a forklift, and give it away.

Jeez guys, I only replied for the fun of it.
Believe me, If I had a 3520 schematic, it'd be posted ASAP.

I don't feel that this falls under DRM or any other laws. If I look at the unit and figure out where the wires go, technically I'm reverse-engineering and breaking the law?
That's my point about the schematics. If I had a 3520, I could draw up a pretty darn close schematic in about 1-2 hours.
Would Crown come after me for this?
NOT.

If you need a shyster schematic, let me know... I'll post it, no worries. Heck I'll give out part numbers if you want.
If I get a cease&decist I'll scan and post that too.

If this was all so secret and illegal, then card manufacturers wouldn't have to erase the #'s off thier IC's just to stop all us tinkerers from repairing our own cards.

I was reading a post about someone here trying to reverse-engineer the can-bus coding in the new fortis trucks. I think it's great! If he figures it out, it'll help me out sometime in the future, guarenteed.

Did you get hit for sharing a schematic?
If you did, that's pretty scarey!!!

Does that mean that when we share manuals with the CAT dealer and they share back, we're risking a lawsuit?

I wonder if things are more lax here in the great white north...

Nope, no NDA, wouldn't matter anyway (see below)

As for profoit:
Well since my internet connection costs me money, maybe I should sue nacco...

As for the ignorance is bliss:
'all contracts in alberta are null and void unless witnessed by a notary'
so sayeth the law...
That's actually why there is no 'official' Yale dealer here anymore. Seems 1 of my previous employers made off with $500,000USD from Yale despite signing personal aggreements :-)
Now Yale will only give the dealership to someone who can pay them back with intrest up-front.

I'm not sure what we have for a 'fair use policy' here (speaking of ignorance :-) ), but that sure does seem logical for an excuse to copy schematics and freely pass them out.
