As they are becoming more and more popular I was wondering what company first came up with the concept of bi-directional forklifts and who's is the best in the market now.

Dear RPM7,
To the best of my knowledge, the Raymond company pioneered these
machines,back in the seventies.As far
as the best machine out there now,I
would have to go with Raymond on that
as well.I've sold some of their multi-direction lifts, and they hold up very
well,in my opinion.

The Raymond 4 directional forklift is a very useful piece of equipment. I was at a customer site the other day that handles vinyl siding, they would not have sufficient room to store their 12 foot long skids in the rack without the aid of their fiddler. I have serviced a couple other brands of 4 directional lift trucks and have not found the competion to be in the same class for either the operation or maintainance compared to the Raymond.

We serviced all makes of 4-way machines and Combilift makes the most durable unit out there. If you have an electric only application  than it depends on the capacity and lift height you require as to the best machine.
