YALE 1970 G83P Tilt question

I have a YALE G83P-040-SWT-074
Type G
Ser # P183595

This is a 14Ft lift height, but the tilt is limited on this truck. There seem to be stops underneath at the pivot point of the mast even though the Tilt Cylinders have travel left, and the mast is not hitting the body, the mast stops at a shallow tilt angle with both front and rear tilt.

Is there a way to increase the tilt angle?
We will not use this for lift heights over 8 ft anyway

There wouldn't be stops on the mast but there is inside the tilt cylinder. Different sized spacers are used to limit how far forward it will tilt, or no spacer would allow for max. tilt forward. You have to take the tilt cylinders apart to remove or change them. As for tilting back, all you can do is screw the clevis mounts as far as possible on to the shafts to make it pull the mast back more.

Well, as far as tilting back, the tilt cylinders have plenty of stroke (like about 2" or so) left but something stops the mast....
So could there be limiters inside the tilt cylinders for BACK tilt also??

The spacer installed inside the lift cylinder will only limit the forward tilt. On later models they also installed spacers between the clevis end and the cylinder to limit the backward tilt. Not showing anything on this model that would limit backward tilt. This lift came with about twenty options for the tilt cylinder stroke. Have you had the cylinder apart? Someone may have installed the spacer wrong inside the cylinder.

No I didn't take the tilts cyl's apart....yet...
I could unhook them and operate them unhooked, to see if they are internally limited.

Can you tell me why they limit the tilt?
Is it because of the lift height?

The tilt is limited either per customer request or and most importantly to stabilize the load. To much forward tilt and the operator could dump the load off the forks. I have searched a couple tilt cylinders and have found where spacers were installed to limit the forward and backward tilt. You might have spacers on both sides of the piston limiting the stroke of the cylinder rod. That can only be determined when taken apart. Look on the outside of the cylinder and see if you can locate a part number. Let me know.
