I know that SMH offers some technical training for Mechanics but I am looking for any other options to see what is the best value for my dollar.  If anybody knows of any other companies that offer service repair training for Independents I would be very interested in any information I could get

You may have luck with some of the larger dealers. They often have training classes for both their own techs and customer techs.. not sure about independants. Also, manufacturer training. I have attended other manfacturer training classes. They were not cheap.. but training isn't

Flight Systems Industrial Products offers service schools for technicians.  Our next 3-day class is being held on Nov. 4-6.  This 3-day class will cover basic electronics, theory and troubleshooting.  You can visit our website for more details.  We are located in Carlisle, PA and these classes do fill up quickly.

Thanks I may consider it.  I know that SMH offers some training but I am looking for a little more advanced training than just basic electronics and a way to get service manuals on the different systems.  I am currently looking for information to trouble shoot an EV100 system.

Our service school does cover troubleshooting of the EV100 system.  Please review the brochure link on the home page of our website for details.

and I would like to put in my .02$. I am willing to bet more good electric forklift techs have either been trained by Flight systems schools or the people they learned from were trained by flight systems schools than by any manufacturer. I have no "horse in this race" but have had some of the best customer service I ever found in this industry, from flight systems, and my problems were not trivial to fix.
I would hope that now that Flight Systems Industrial Products is getting into the IC controls repair business we might look to them for IC schools some time in the future, for those not connected to a manufacturer.
Pam, is there any plans in the works for that?

Thanks Edward....
We recognize the need for this training in the industry and are fortunate to have a very knowledge employee that has been conducting training on electric forklifts for many years. We do strive to offer good customer service and technical help in the electric forklift industry.  Yes, we are expanding and beginning to offer remanufactured IC controls and will keep everyone posted on our releases via our website.  We want to hear from service techs out in the field - what IC controls would you like us to consider??  We are working on putting a plan together to expand our training schools to possibly cover AC and IC controls.  We are aware of the demand and will keep you posted.
