Mitsubishi FG35 3.5ton - need info

Gday, great website,

ok we have a mitsubishi fg35 1993 forklift (built 4/93 - the compliance plate says so ;-) )

It has a V6 that runs gas. We need to know what engine this is (it has died a slow death) and if I am able to source a new one.

The confusing part: I searched this website and it says it has a k25 engine (thats all the info I got) then I search google for this "mitsubishi k25" it comes up with references to nissan k25 engines. Were mitsubishi inbed with nissan around this time for engines and parts? What should I be looking for as far getting parts, or complete engines?

Its an old fork, but it has a rough life, I cant constitute a new one just yet.

I have been thinking the holden/buick 3.8 v6 with a cam and custom adaptor plate, if I cant find what i want asap.

Any info muchly appreciated!!

With out a serial I cant tell for sure but a lot here in the stated run 4.3L gm engines.I have seen some hysters with the 3.0 caravan powerplant that I think is a mitsu

I would have expected this if it were the v6, to have the 3.0 Mitsubishi "caravan" power plant, (when we say "caravan" here in the states I think we are referring to a Dodge or Chrysler Minivan, I am not sure if there is such a beast "down under").
I doubt very seriously if there was a K21 Nissan motor back in 94. The closest Nissan back then was the h20. Most of these sold in the USA had a 4 cylinder (4gxx) Mitsubishi power plant.

The engine is a Mitsubishi V6 model 6G72 and was used in motor vehicles here in the states. Most, if not all, of the engine parts are available from your local auto parts store.

It is correct that the 6g72 is the engine family used, as it seems one of our guys spent some time chiselling off all the crap and discovered the engine number - exactly in the last place you would expect to look apparently.

So here in Australia there are 2 passenger vehicles that use this engine: the mitsubishi magna (family sedan) and mitsubishi pajero (4x4 wagon) I was told there is fairly big differences between these motors, and different capacities. Each expert I called up had a different story lol but Im siding with the one who said the Pajero is the one more like the forklift engine, where there were no differences between industrial and passenger car engines - except for the distributor type ignition and the carburettor. Also if running LPG it is a must to use heads suited to LPG.

So I am trying to locate a Paj motor and do some measuring. Im guessing the internals could be anything really, but as long as it has around the 3litre capacity and has some torque at 2400rpm we should get bye. Considering how the oil in the current engine is more like emulsified water - it still did the job til it died. I have just started working here and it seems alot of the machinery needs attention. It worries me when i see this.

Just thought I would post these findings for the next person who might be needing info.

If memory serves me right it wasn't until 2002 or 2003 that MCFA began working with Nissan by building 8 - 11K pneumatics for Nissan under a "technology sharing" agreement of some sort. Later they (MCFA) started using the Nissan K25, engines in Mits/Cat built model - had something to do with compliance to Tier 3 emission stds, etc.

A confusing point in the Mitsu model line up is they have 2 models that start with FG35. One is a 7k lift unit called FG35 A (4 cyl engine) part of a 4-7k family and a FG35 (6 cyl eng.) an 8k truck and is part of a 8-11k family
