hello
I have a curtis 1204-015, it works fine with potentiometer 0-5K
I need install this controller in a transpalet (forward and reverse)then I need 5k-0-5k.
The trick with 20k potentiometer not work because it's 0-5k-0
I purchased electronic throttle ET-103 but not work.
curtis datasheet say "curtis electronic throttle (ET series) with a controller having the optional 0-5v throttle input."
my questions
Which series 1204 controllers work with the ET-103 accelerators?
it's possible 5k-0-5k with potentiometer? which?
thanks

sorry for my english but I don't write english

please send me to felipehoffmann in yhaoo.com
thanks

I have curtis 1204 manual, I conected same wiring but not works.
controller works ok with potentiometer
throttle works ok  (0 to 5 v)
the curtis datasheet say "a 4-terminal center-tapped 10k ohm...."
do you know this?
thanks

Hi Felipe
A 10k 4 terminal pot is the same as a 3 terminal pot but  it has an extra terminal connected to the 5k point (the centre or mid point), the 2 outside terminals are connected together (these are the 2 terminals that on a 3 terminal that are not the wiper), then from the centre point you will get zero Ohms
to 5k Ohms  which ever way you turn it. These potentiometers are not very common these days, Curtis instruments may be able to supply you one but you should be able to use the Et-103 throttle Assembly to work with it, and it will also do the job of your direction switch.
Are you getting any output from the ET-103?

Hi Shane
yes
the ET-103 supply from 0v to 5v (black cable)
I conected this cable to controller's pin 3.
I conected:
pin 1 (KSI) = bat+
pin 2 (throttle input) = nothing
pin 3 (throttle input) = ET-103's black cable)

Hi Felipe
When you connect the pot do you connect it to pin 2 and 3 if so you may need to connect the Wht/brn or Orange wire from the ET-103  to pin 2 (pot low) of the controller to get it to work. As I am at home I haven't got any info with me but I will look for you tomorrow.

Hi
I tested this conection but not works
I conected:
pin 1 (KSI) = bat+
pin 2 (throttle input) = ET-103's orange cable (Pot Lo)
pin 3 (throttle input) = ET-103's black cable

no test Wht/brn because this cable is Battery -
thanks

Hi Felipe,
I don't see many of that type of Curtis controller these days and I have looked and I don't have any info on how to connect an ET-103 to a 1204 (with two pot connections). With the 1204 with one pot  connection,  the two terminals on the pot  are connected to pin 2 (pot input) and battery negative, and if you use an ET-103, the ET-103 output is connected to pin 2. But with a 1204 with 2 pot connections (pot input and pot low) the two pot terminals are connected to pot low and pot input and if you connect a pot to pot input and negative instead or pot low the controller will not work which is what you are trying to do with the ET-103 (I think you have to use both pot terminals) you could try putting a negative to pot low if that doesn't work you can get in touch with Curtis Instrument they are quite helpful, unless anyone else has any ideas.
Shane

Are the contactors closing?

hi
yes contactors closing
now partial works
with
pin 1 (KSI) = bat+
pin 2 (throttle input) = ET-103's black cable)
pin 3 (throttle input) = nothing

and turning minipotentiometers of throttle
partial work because not full voltaje
with potentiometer pin2 go from 4v to 9v
with et-103 pin2 go from 4v to 8v

Hi Felipe,
That's good news.
You can alter the output voltage by adjusting the small trimmer screw on the ET-103, that might get you full speed from your unit.

Hi Shane
yes I can ajusted
one small pot for intial voltaje
the other small pot for full voltaje (I fixed in max limit)
I think the motor works 90% of the full speed
thank you for help me
