Please can you tell me what type of charger i need for a crown 30sctf 36 v and a clark tm15 which i think is also a 36v? can i use any 36v charger and will it fit into a standard plug or do i need 3 phase outlet?

Hi, John. Charger must match to the battery by two parameters: volts and power. If batt has 36 volts, then charger has to be 36V. Power of charger( A - amps) has to be betwen 10%-20% of batt. capacity i.e: if battery has 600Ah capacity, then charger has to be 60A to 120A for fast charge. Most of new generation chargers built in high frequency technology has electronic boards which automaticly recognized capacity of batt,voltage, level of discharge and match all those parameters to the condition of battery.Choice of power supply (single or three phase) depend of what type of connection you got in your warehouse, and dont affect charging. Remember that bigger chargers need bigger power supply,for example: 48V 120A charger with single phase connection need arround 32A power supply, where the same charger but with 3 phase supply will take only arround 8A per phase. Hope it helps you to choice the right one which suits you.

i can only use single phase so if anyone can tell me what make and model charger that would be great, also i'm based in utah usa.

Hello John!

Actually zygmunt's reply is very professional. In my opinion, I suggest your charger's voltage could be "36V" and its Ah could be "20%*the Ah of your battery". Its imput voltage could be 110V/Single phase. (PS: Ah=Amper/hour)

For example, if your battery is 36V/400Ah, your charger could be 36V/80Ah and its imput voltage could be 110V/Single phase.

before figuring out what charger you need, you first have to find out what kind of power supply is available in your building. Obviously you have 110v, but that is realy not the best way to go. Do you have 208v, 240v, or 480v service in your building? If you have any of these power supplys in your building (in single or 3 phase)you can use them to power a commercial grade charger. Most commercial chargers are convertable to work on any of those three power sources. They can't be converted to different phases though; a charger made for single phase can't be converted to 3 phase and vice versa.

next as already stated you have to match the chargers a/h out put to the battery that you are charging with it.
Hopefully both of your machines have simmilarly rated batteries so that one charger will work for both lifts.
Try to find a local fork lift service co. to sell you a used charger, they are genneraly not to expencive.
