Nathan,  what type of lift do you need?

Electric, IC, high lift low, there are alot of variables to giving any advise.  what is the application, wet, dry, inside /out what will you be lifting, is there chemicals, or food, or anything that might be harsh on the equipment? How many units are you looking to buy?  etc....

I am a not basis consultant for the forklift industry, primarly for large end users, but will give you some pointers on what to look for and how to get through the maze of vendors.

Key
1. Service of the local vendor (Dealer)
2. Manufacture
3. Lease programs
4. all of which depend on your application, if your running 4 hours a week inside clean then it proply wont matter enough and will be more on preferance and upfront cost.

Make a profile then we can go from there.

Nathan; If you ask people what is the best machine you will get a thousand different answers and my experience has been that the people that know the least about forklift trucks have the strongest opinions(usually wrong) about them. My recomendation is to visit a few dealers and decide which one is the straightest shooter and who looks like they have not only the wherewithall but also the desire to take care of you. The next step is to tell him what what your needs are and what you would like the forklift to do. You should also advise him of your comfort level budget wise. My belief is that you need to be as honest with the prospective supplier as you would expect them to be with you.

Hi! I am trying to come out with a sensible forklift rental busness plan here in the Philippines. There are things I need to know: how i should go about this project like process of acquiring forklifts and how to identify the market? The market here in the Philippines is very niche, i need an opinion on how I should grab a market share and eventually make the company known in the forklift rental business

It really is simple.Get the very best equipment you can afford, probably Japanese, set up a proper servicing regime and charge the right price. If a customer wants to pay less send him to one of your competitors.Businesss rarely fail because they have high prices.
