I'm new to the site and posted this in another area as well.

California, United States  We have codes 12 and 82 showing with additional display numbers of
7719.4kh
1898.6 hd
0262.5 hl
002470 tm

We had a potentiomete replaced because of a problem with the unit coming down on it's own. Now the unit will continue to raise by itself and horn was disconnected because it continued to go off. Any help with the codes or symptoms is appreciated.

Code 12 = 60" switch conflicts with other switches. When truck is operating, this code is generated if the 60" switch indicates that:
The carriage is above 60" while the 24" switch indicates the carriage is below 24" or
The 60" switch indicates it is below 60" but the 150" switch indicates the carriage is above 150"

The kh, hd, hl, tm are hour meter readings. They should only show up when you hold in horn button while turning on the key switch. Double check the horn switch. Horn switch connects to carriage wiring board. Its signal, 24" signal, and wire guide switch (if equip) share a common wire to vehicle manager. This is what is called the Combo Line. The manager sees the different voltage drops across the wire and translates the drops to blow horn, 24" speed, etc.
Maybe if you solve the Code 12 problem, 82 may be also solved.

Sounds like you also installed a Lift/Lower pot. That would normally cause Code 81. New Pot has to be "Learned" through the truck program.

Thanks Carl. We did put in the Lift/Lower Pot. The tech said the system would not relearn and he had to set the lift/lower pot to 400 ohms at neutral so it would learn the handle and it still showed a code 81. We never had a problem with the horn sounding and the unit continuing to raise after handle release until this new pot was put in. The Tech is now indicating the unit may need the vehicle manager priced over 2k but he seems very unsure. Looking for other possible solutions. The part installed was NA014981

Thanks
Mike

May have pinched wiring from horn switch when putting handle together.
If your tech knows how to enter menu, have him go to analog test 4. A4 is the lift/lower pot voltage. Leave it in test and remove L/L knob, turn pot to a voltage around 2.35 to 2.45, put knob back on and when he tightens set screws make sure the voltage stays. then retry learn. I always have used voltage not resistance. There has also been an ongoing issue with pot suppliers for as long as I can remember.
Don't go for the manager just yet

Local dealer sent out their Master Tech and he found a bad connection at the board where some of the harness attached and I guess this board communicates with the vehicle management board. My terms may be off a little but our problem has been solved for a couple hundred additional dollars.
Thanks for the advise.

this is for hardriders posts only.....
all you other guys should have started a new thread for your issues to help keep confusion to a minimum...
I'll be more than happy to assist in the other issues if done so..
but for now hardrider only....

codes C0 through CE indicate a fault in the internal system software. (the TMM) This fault should never occur. Contact Material Handling Associates if this problem is observed.

This is what manual says about this series of codes and thier only solution is to replace the Vehicle Manager.

Now since you had issues with the control handle and had that worked on and immediatly had issues and the tech came out and replaced the carriage board for some reason, the only thing that comes to mind now is that during that process someone inadvertantly may have shorted circuits and burned something in the TMM.
I have worked on many of these handle assy's and i can tell you from first hand experience that they are VERY tedious to work on, reassembly HAS TO BE PERFECT or wires will get pinched or alignment pins can get broken and the handle will not assemble correctly and create a whole mess of problems that will run you around in circles. Alot of what you described in previous posts after your initial handle repair.
And for anyone thats listening, for future reference, you do not use OHMS to calibrate the potentiometers, it operates off of voltage ranges to determine what its functions will do. You can successfully setup a pot using the maintenance menu and can be done easily if you know what to do and what mode to set it in while in there. And what most dont realize is that you have to be in the setup mode BEFORE you even start to do the replacement or you will NEVER get into the setup menu's after the part replacement.

Being the handle connects directly to the TMM i think it would be safe to say that this scenario may have burned something in the carriage board, hence why the tech replaced it but it may have also fried something in the TMM as well.

Seeing that problems keep cropping up if it were me i would go back to the control handle and recheck it and make sure there are no pinched wires. As for the TMM , you can dissassemble it and check the components in it and see which one is damaged if it is indeed burned somewhere. The TMM has 3 components, a power card, the serial board interface and the logic board which mounts directly onto the serial board.

You can replace the complete TMM if you like but that is VERY costly compared to just replacing the component that is damaged. So by all means have your 'professional cat dealer' do the work. Hopefully he will be proficient in these trucks and be able to determine what is exactly wrong and repair it.
