Hi,
We have a forklift repairman that has a windows xp laptop and is attempting to use the Linde Truck Doctor software with a USB cable that connects to a serial cable which connects to the Linde forklift. The icon he uses on his desktop is LTD2_EN and opens a web interface. At first all he told me was that it won’t connect to the forklift but on closer inspection of the Windows XP device manager he has an unknown device listed when he connects the usb cable to the laptop. It’s displaying as “USB Serial Converter” under Other Devices category and if we right click on it and select properties it says “drivers for this device not installed”. I imagine if he had a regular serial port and connected it to the laptop without the USB cable then it would be fine however the laptop only has USB ports. Do you guys have the Windows XP driver or a location we could download it from or how else can we get the Truck Doctor software working? Google does not produce much results besides this site and a few other posts on other forum sites so ANY information would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Its currently configured for com1 however the laptop is not assigning the usb cable to com1 since the drivers are not installed. Being an IT technician I know something is not working if it has a ? and a ! mark next to it in the device manager and also the fact that it says drivers not installed meaning the computer doesnt know how to make it function yet.

I agree with etharp. You should just install a driver first.

Ref. Linde Truck Doctor and a cable can you please inform whether are original or not.
Thing is that I'm looking for both; software with key and cables for Linde.
Can we make any deal?

(for future reference)
driver issue
find off the web and install the driver
if its working right, right click "my computer"
hit properties/ hardware tab/ device manager/ open the "ports (com and lpt)" tree and the adapter should be listed there hit properties for it and set it to com 1
most adapters self assign to com 4 cause com 1 is reserved for the hardware irq but since you dont have onboard serial (rs232) it is unused
