you did not mention what exactly do you need however charging problems do occur one area to look at is the VTM's (voltage-temperature meter) sometimes its fuse is busted another area is the diodes on the transformer and lastly the automatic switches, Some modern chargers need a light touch and is controlled by the number of seconds you are holding on the "on" switch therefore most errors comes from over pressing the "on" switch. VTM's broke due to overdischarging, it cannot detect the general condition of the battery therefore cannot turn off the charger automatically.

Bris,
Im no charger expert, and i know this is a yr overdue, but someone may benifit from this.regarding your prototype,On our twin battery chargers we have some that have a single DC out- put fuse, and some with double fuses. We have found that there is less fuse changing with the single type.
Also at times our batteys can be uncharged to a point of no return with our higher tech chargers, so from time to time we have to use the old manual type to bring it back enough to be sensed. Id love to see a modern charger have that ability, is this avail on the market? its very useful when needed.
Tweeker.
